Frequently asked questions
  • Why should I service my car?

Just like regular check-ups with a dentist or doctor, your car needs routine maintenance to ensure it runs smoothly and efficiently. Regular checks help detect any issues early, preventing costly repairs and ensuring your Suzuki operates at its best. Important components and lubricants, such as engine oil, have a limited effective period, so it’s crucial to replace them according to the Service & Warranty Manual.

  • How often should I service my car?

Regular servicing is key to maintaining your Suzuki’s long-term reliability and safety. We recommend servicing at specified intervals, based on distance traveled or time elapsed, whichever comes first. This also ensures compliance with your 5-year Real Value Warranty Programme and can enhance your car’s resale value. Please refer to your owner’s manual for the recommended servicing schedule.

  • I don’t drive very far; do I still need to service it regularly?

Yes, even if you don’t drive often or cover long distances, regular servicing is essential. Some parts are more affected by time than by mileage. For example, oil degrades over time, especially if you make short trips or engage in stop-and-go driving frequently.

  • What driving conditions affect how often my car needs a service?

Certain driving conditions require more frequent servicing, such as:

    • Trips less than 6 kilometres
    • Idling or low-speed operation in stop-and-go traffic
    • Rough, muddy, or dusty areas
    • Repeated high-speed driving or high engine revolutions
    • Extremely cold weather or salted roads
    • Trips less than 16 kilometres in freezing temperatures
    • Towing a trailer
  • Who should service my car?

Our expertly trained technicians at Hawke’s Bay Suzuki use the latest Suzuki diagnostic and technical equipment and receive up-to-date training. They can accurately identify and address potential issues, ensuring only necessary parts are replaced. Your Suzuki service manager is always available to answer any questions about your car’s specific needs.

  • Can I service my car at a non-authorised servicing agent?

While you can use a non-authorised servicing centre, please be aware that any failure resulting from sub-standard parts or inadequate servicing might not be covered under warranty.

  • Where can I find my nearest Suzuki service centre/technician?

Hawke’s Bay Suzuki is part of an extensive network of Suzuki service centres. You can find your nearest location on the Suzuki NZ website. We can also arrange timely service reminders for you.

  • How long does a service take?

We strive to return your vehicle by the agreed time and date, or sooner if possible. Once the service is complete, we will contact you to collect your car and explain the work done.
